Before taking classes at the King Sejong Institute, I had only self-studied with textbooks and didn’t have the experience nor the confidence to actually speak Korean out loud. I’ve tried several times through different means to learn Korean, but I’ve only ever actually made progress thanks to the King Sejong Institute. The classes are very affordable and very thorough. The group in-person setting has been very helpful and I feel like I’ve gained more knowledge in a semester than I did from months of trying to self-study.

I joined the King Sejong Institute in-person classes to learn Hangul, and even though I am a slow learner, I was able to make progress and read and start speaking in Korean. There, I meet wonderful people who share the love of the Korean culture with me and we became friends! I also love all the Korean cultural activities offered by the Institute!

Sejong classes were fun and set up in a way I wish all language classes were. The teacher was so personable that I was actually sad to advance to the next level and leave her! The institute also does cool activities and I highly recommend Sejong as THE place to learn Korean.

I began the course knowing some basic phrases, but almost illiterate in Hangeul. After the first lesson, I found myself reading signs all over Koreatown, and soon enough, I even began to understand some of what I was reading!
